Episode 7 - Dan and Dave Run Run From a Clip Show

It's easier to come up with a title when it's only one episode.

It's an odd number (13) and we didn't want to bridge the two seasons, so a single episode about season 1 episode 13 and then a season wrap up seemed in order.

Oh this is officially our CNDOP episode, I don't care if it's late, what did you pay for it?

Mickey Dolenz?

An army of robutts to rob Fort Knox?  SIGN ME UP!

Oh it's a clip show.

ROCKY!

I don't think Lee Majors is what I'd call 'comfortable' as an actor, but boy is he comfortable on a horse.

There was a lot more acceptance of men in their 40s creeping on teenaged girls back then it seems.

On to a season 1 wrap-up.

Season 1 was fun, if uneven.

The show is WAY more violent than I remember, I think Steve has personally killed like 6 guys this season.

I think the show was trying to be more 'serious' in season 1.  It isn't yet a cultural phenomenon.  (Where the hell is Cloutier when you need him?  No not Buddy Cloutier, I mean the Dr one).

Is Steve famous?

Is OSI his full time job?

In this timeline, are astronauts just going to the moon all of the time?  It seems as if the show is almost postulating a 'For All Mankind' type of thing where we keep investing in space.  I was really hopeful for stuff like that as a kid.

What are your thoughts?

Episode 5 - Dan and Dave Miss the Last Fourth of July

Steve drives a vintage sports car
I've committed to this whole naming convention for the episodes, but man, it's hard...

I like the Rudy kidnapping idea.

That said, it's clear that the world knows he's working on bionics, or had been I guess.

We're still dealing with the thing where people don't recognize a guy who WALKED ON THE MOON.

Season 1 is kind of oh, darker than I remember.  I'll have to see what Dan thinks (I write these things before we record).

Indeed, they're more, oh I dunno, 'Bond-like' I suppose.  Even down to driving cool vintage Euro sports cars.

I guess it took place in Innsbruck as it was in the news as the upcoming Olympic site.

Thanks to today's sponsor, Evel Knievel.

Steve pole vaults an electric fence
On to the last of the fourth of Julys.

OK, this one is VERY Bond.  Hell, it's almost Dr. Evil.

Steve pole vaults an electric fence, which is pretty great.

What the hell was Tom Hayden doing there doing the SONAR?

Also, why the active SONAR pings?

Anyway, enjoy!

Episode 4 - Dave and Dan Are Eyewitnesses to the Rescue of Athena

Like I said last time, coming up with clever titles for two episodes is not easy...

Eyewitness to Murder is a fun one.  It's got a clever twist that, while a trope I suppose, I did not see coming.  I'll ask Dan when we record.

Steve dines alone.

Hair to face ratio.

Again, he's been on the moon, you ought to know who he is!

'Tell him Oscar Goldman sent you.

Did they intercept a Shriner's parade?  Because boy

did a lot of people get into that limo.

The Tailor knows who he is, so there's that.

In the Rescue of Athena One we get FARRAH!!!

Majors and Fawcett actually play really well off of each other.  Neither would be classified as oh, say great actors, but together they were good.  Makes sense as they were married at the time.

The casual sexism is gross.

Jules Bergman playing himself was a nice addition.

As you can see in the picture, they operated, IN SPACE!

I loved the space race, so I ate this one up.  It was, I think, maybe the best one we've seen yet.

Oh hey, Skylab!
