Episode 6 - Dave and Dan Wonder If They Are Watching Star Trek

Is it because of my weirdness?
Hey we're back!

Went a different way with the title this time because we got a couple of great guest stars.

SHANTER AND TAKEI!

(Oh and France Nyuen, who guest starred on a Star Trek is also in the second episode)(.

Shanter is his Shatnerist.

'Is it about my weirdness Steve?'

Just jump out here Steve

Getting zapped by an electric field and becoming super smart, wait, this sounds like a Star Trek episode actually.  I think there are more than one of them like that!

There's a sadness is Shanter's performance that is overshadowed by the fact that it is Shanter being Shatner.  Still, Canadian content a day after Canada Day, we'll take it.

In 'The Coward' we get a bit of Steve's back story.

It's the first appearance of Martha Scott as Steve's Mom.  We will see her throughout the series and in the Bionic Woman.

George Takei is a parachuting and climbing expert.

Majors does a bit of actual acting in this one too. He's becoming comfortable with the character I think.

Episode 5 - Dan and Dave Miss the Last Fourth of July

Steve drives a vintage sports car
I've committed to this whole naming convention for the episodes, but man, it's hard...

I like the Rudy kidnapping idea.

That said, it's clear that the world knows he's working on bionics, or had been I guess.

We're still dealing with the thing where people don't recognize a guy who WALKED ON THE MOON.

Season 1 is kind of oh, darker than I remember.  I'll have to see what Dan thinks (I write these things before we record).

Indeed, they're more, oh I dunno, 'Bond-like' I suppose.  Even down to driving cool vintage Euro sports cars.

I guess it took place in Innsbruck as it was in the news as the upcoming Olympic site.

Thanks to today's sponsor, Evel Knievel.

Steve pole vaults an electric fence
On to the last of the fourth of Julys.

OK, this one is VERY Bond.  Hell, it's almost Dr. Evil.

Steve pole vaults an electric fence, which is pretty great.

What the hell was Tom Hayden doing there doing the SONAR?

Also, why the active SONAR pings?

Anyway, enjoy!

Episode 3 - Dan and Dave Take an Orphaned Airplane to Doomsday

Gee, these title are a lot harder to come up with when you talk about two episodes at once.

That said, we have a couple of fun ones.

Little Orphan Airplane has Greg Morris, Mission Impossible's Barney Collier, as a guest star, hard to say anything bad about that!  Frankly, I'd love a Mission Impossible podcast.  Hmmmmmm.

Those nuns were fun.

The nuns recognized Steve, which is nice, as he, you know, WALKED ON THE EFFING MOON.

I enjoyed Steve pantomiming a plane.

Hey, Steve, those, improvements, do they come in Black?

Doomsday and Counting is a classic sort of detente era show about the Russian, or, as Oscar would say, 'the sawvyets'.

Well known Russian Gary Collins.  Wearing Bieber's hair.

Nice Star Trek connection in this one, we have William Smithers as a Russian General (oddly enough standing by an East German symbol, but whatever) and he played Merik in Bread and Circuses, and the guy who calls for Steve and Vasili was in thee TOS episodes.  Wait, William Smithers was in two episodes of Mission Impossible.   You know, if I believed in a higher power, or any other, umm, magic, I might see this as a sign of some sort.  That the universe wants me to do a Mission Impossible watch through podcast.

'Well Mr. Gold Mahn'. Maybe that's why Oscar mispronounces 'Soviets'.
